Job Description

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is currently seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner -Coordinator in our Bariatric/Weight Loss Surgery Unit.

Hours/Schedule: Full Time. 40 hours per week. M-F

Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and nurse practitioner program.

Required Minimum Experience: 2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience. First assist certification and experience beneficial.

Required licensure/certification: Current Texas RN and Advanced Practice licensure. ACNP Certification required.

Essential Functions
Assessment/ Plan of Care/ Technical Skill:
• Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health
history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Uses principles and skills in advanced health assessment for differentiating normal and abnormal findings
• Synthesizes knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, culture, and socioeconomics to access, evaluate, and
provide therapeutic interventions to patients
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes in order to promote continuity of care
• Initiates actions to meet patients/families' needs
• Takes actions to reduce patients risks
• Performs specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
• Produces documentation that initiates, follows, and revises patients' plan of care
• Focuses on adherence to clinical pathways, protocols, and policies to ensure high reliability of clinical program
• Promotes population health through the evaluation of care delivery models as they pertain to community,
environmental, cultural and socio-economical dimensions of health.

Continuous Quality Improvement:
• Assist in center development, managing, the accreditation process and ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements, maintaining relevant policies and procedures, patient education, outcome data collection, quality improvement efforts, and education of relevant staff in the various aspects of metabolic and bariatric surgery with a focus on patient safety.
• Utilizes evidenced based practice
• Demonstrates contribution to unit based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve
the quality of patient care
• Assist in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and take actions to improve those processes

Partnerships:
• Works in partnerships with peers and other disciplines
• Actively participates in formal and informal teaching and evaluation to strengthen clinical competence of self and
team members
• Flexible with scheduling to meet the department and patient needs
• Adapts to changes in workload assignments to meet changing needs of the individuals, patient, or the unit
• Accepts other duties as assigned

Professional Accountability:
• Identifies realistic and measurable annual goals for advanced professional nursing development
• Serves as patient advocate
• Complies with THR Human Resource Policies: Attendance, Dress Code
• Works with unit leaders and hospital leadership to meet compliance and business needs
• Recognizes and communicates ethical and legal concerns through established channels of communications
